John Nixon (English , 1750 - 1818)

Pepper Arden , Lord Alvenlay, 1802. (Portrait of a Barrister). Watercolor and grey ink drawing, mounted. 5 1/2 x 4 inches. Dated, titled and signed with initials by the artist. John Nixon, a merchant in Basinghall Street, also had 41 exhibits at the Royal Academy between 1781 and 1815. His speciality was humorous watercolors that have a certain hurly-burly liveliness. Framed.
